Ask the Chef: Superfoodie Holiday Gift Guide

By Julie Morris, Superfood Chef | December 16, 2013

Q: Do you have any gift ideas for a superfoodie?

    1. Superfoods.
Duh, I know. But I promise you - a gift of awesome superfood ingredients trumps a scented candle any day. If you already know your recipients favorite superfood, like cacao for example, you've got it easy. But, this is also a perfect time to gift a superfood or two that is slightly lesser popularized and more adventurous, such as yacon slices or goldenberry powder. When your superfoodie exclaims “I've always wanted to try this!†you'll know you've hit a home run.

    2. Travel Blender.
A mini blender is a great way to keep up a healthy lifestyle when out of town (it's small enough to fit in a suitcase), and it's also a wonderful tool in the kitchen as well … making small-batch sauces, dips, and dressings a cinch. In fact, this is one of my personal favorite tools in the kitchen, and I use it almost as often as my big blender. Of course, if you'd like to gift a Vitamix, it goes without saying that's great too!

    3. Healthy Cookbooks.
New inspiration is always appreciated, and cookbooks are a great way to keep a healthy lifestyle exciting and fun (or simply show you how to use superfoods in the first place). This was a great year for healthy cookbooks - some of my favorite picks come straight from our ambassadors (and fellow Navitas fans) like Raw & Simple by Judita Wignall, Undiet by Meghan Telpner, and of course my cookbook for the smoothie lovers among us, Superfood Smoothies.

    4. Personalized Superfood Smoothie Blends.
Make way for the best homemade gift ever: a personalized healthy smoothie blend. Combine a few of your favorite superfood powders in a glass jar that the recipient can easily scoop out and blend with a piece of fruit whenever they're in need of a healthy snack. (This is also a great gift for those people who “love superfoods they just don't know it yet.â€) Personalize it by including superfoods that are specific to the recipients lifestyle - for example, make a workout blend for a fitness fan with hemp protein, maca powder, lucuma powder, and coconut water powder.

    Happy Healthy Holidays!
