It looks like it's that time again! It is time to get your cleanse on!
With the turn of the season comes a chance to refocus on health. Our new year's resolutions are long gone, old bad habits have reappeared again, and we are craving a revival of health and vitality. With summer shorts and tiny bikinis on the horizon, let's start preparing by cleaning up from the inside out!
Spring is the natural cleansing season. As the weather warms up, and the chemistry of our body shifts, our system undergoes a natural cleansing process. It begins to let go of all that is no longer needed, shedding those extra pounds and clearing harmful toxins and waste products. While cleansing is hard wired into the body's natural processes, there is a lot we can do to help it along.
A simple, nutrient-dense diet free of allergens, along with hydrating liquids and superfood snacks is all that it takes. By eating the right foods, we can get the necessary nutrients needed to facilitate the natural cleansing process. This allows your body to focus on clearing cell-damaging chemicals and metals, and undigested foods, as well as inflammatory, symptom-causing agents. Simultaneously, the influx of vital nutrients helps to heal the body's tissues and organs. This leaves you feeling energized, mentally focused and invigorated. The best part is this cleansing plan is super easy to follow, and you don't have to change your lifestyle too drastically in order to get results. So let's take a look at what's involved.
The main player of this super easy, superfood cleanse is a daily shake. Comprised of wheatgrass, coconut and chia powder, along with fresh fruit and greens, it has all the vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients your body requires to detoxify and regenerate. Simply drink two shakes daily. For your third meal of the day, you will focus on eating fresh organic vegetables, healthy fats (nuts, seeds, avocado, olives, coconut and fresh pressed oils), gluten-free grains (quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, millet, rice, oats), beans and fermented vegetables (sauerkraut, kimchi, pickled vegetables). You will avoid animal products (including dairy), soy, corn, gluten (wheat, barley, rye), alcohol, and processed and fried foods. In between meals you will want to snack on Power Snacks. It is best to follow this cleansing program for one to two weeks in order to see results, but feel free to continue it for longer. Expect the first few days to be slightly challenging as the body adjusts to its new program, but shortly after you should feel energized and satiated. Just remember, the key to success is staying hydrated - drink half your weight in ounces of filtered water daily, and allow yourself plenty of time for rest and relaxation. The more that you can focus on healing, the greater the benefits you will reap.

Lunch: Real Food Meal (vegetables, healthy fats, gf grain, beans, fermented veggies)
Snack: Power Snack (3-5 pieces)
Dinner: Cleansing Shake (about 1-2 c)
*You can have the dinner shake for lunch, and the food meal for dinner instead
Water: Half your weight in ounces of filtered water
1 Cup Almond Milk
Â½ Banana, frozen
Â½ Cup mixed Berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries), frozen
Â½ Cup Kale
1 Tbsp. Navitas Naturals Chia Powder
1 Tbsp. Navitas Naturals Coconut Water Powder
1 Tbsp. Navitas Naturals Wheatgrass Powder
*feel free to add a few drops of Stevia to sweeten
Add ingredients to a high-speed blender, blend until smooth.
*Feel free to adjust the chosen fruit and greens to your liking. You may also add a plant-based protein powder as well.
