The Power of Healing Through Food

Well hello there, Navitas fans! I’m stoked to be here as the December Insider of the Month. My name is Briana, but you can call me Bri. Some of you may know me from @beachlifeorganic, as that’s where you can find me daily – usually starting my morning with an Upgraded Matcha Latte and discussing the importance of clean, organic ingredients, while offering up some motivation to inspire you to always #LiveLifePositive!
So who am I and how did I get here? Well…it’s been a rollercoaster ride for sure.

I’m a full-time Emergency Room Nurse, as helping people has always been my passion. However, as I began my journey into nursing with that goal, I quickly realized that the poor health of the people I was trying to help in the hospital was far beyond what I had ever imagined.
I wasn’t always this positive about health either.

I still remember what it was like to come home sad, defeated and depressed by what I saw and experienced in the hospital, overwhelmed by the feeling that I would never be able to help people prevent and reverse disease the way I had always dreamed. That’s where my passion – beachlifeorganic – comes into play.

I’m an Arizona girl who was born and raised in the dessert. I grew up on fast food, convenient packaged snacks and dinners that were rarely made from scratch. Long story short, I didn’t grow up understanding the first thing about health and neither does the majority of our society.

You should know that the ER isn’t filled with traumas and gunshot wounds the way it appears on TV. People typically only come to us when they’re incredibly sick and we rarely have the opportunity to offer them anything but symptomatic relief through the use of medications and surgery.

However, when I moved to California after college, I realized I was suddenly surrounded by healthy options, new ideas and a community of people that were doing exactly what I had always dreamed of doing. It was then that my mindset of how I could help people shifted.

I transitioned that sadness and overwhelmed feeling, and used it as motivation to help people in a different way. Through positive influence, daily inspiration and education about real food made easy, I created BeachLifeOrganic.com. I found a place to inspire people to take their own health into their own hands – prevent or reverse problems before it’s too late.

Here’s what I believe: There’s no magic pill or procedure out there that can reverse chronic preventable diseases like a healthy diet can. The nutrients we get from our food should be our medicine – superfoods, especially, are powerhouses when it comes to the nutrition our bodies need.

Let’s get back to real food, and begin to heal and protect our bodies with the ingredients we choose to eat. I’ll be sharing a few of my favorite Navitas-inspired superfood recipes with you later this month, so be sure to follow along!

In the mean time, don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to hear from you!

x, Bri
