If the breadth of products in culinary stores is any indication, a person could fill an entire kitchen just with tools – forget the food! And so, you may be happy to learn that in addition to most of these tools being largely necessary (as in, most of us would call an “avocado slicer” simply, um...a knife), leading a superfood-rich lifestyle doesn't require anything particularly fancy or different from a regular kitchen setup. That being said, here are my top most-used items in a superfood kitchen.
Blender: Yep, you're going to definitely want a blender. Many superfoods come in powdered form, which means they're not exactly the type of thing you're just going to toss into a casserole or consume straight out of the bag. Infusing powdered superfoods like Maca Powder or Wheatgrass Powder is an easy art to learn, and largely revolves around blending: creating things like drinks, soups, batters and more. Plus, how else will you get your daily superfood smoothie on?
Mini Blender: I know you're probably thinking that we literally just talked about not having many pieces of equipment…and yet, here I am recommending not one, but TWO blenders within the first spots on this list. But hear me out! A mini blender is exceptionally useful in a superfood kitchen. First, it's great for making micro-batches of sauces and dressings – things of which you only need a half cup and not two cups (you need a larger quantity of ingredients to get everything moving in a standard blender). These micro-batch sauces are ideal for folding superfoods into all kinds of recipes, like a fruity salad dressing made with Pomegranate Powder or a protein marinade enhanced with Acai Powder. In a mini blender, you can also grind micro amounts of spices, seeds (and yes, even coffee), to create powders like fresh flax powder, as well as superfood dusts to sprinkle on top of finished dishes.
